Tonnes of things make me sad, global warming, sexism, tribalism, corruption, kids dying of avoidable things, the Donald’s treatment of women… A lot of sadness.

But I’m going to talk about something else all together.
There was a time in my life when all I knew was sadness although it was hard for people around me to know.

I would cry myself to sleep but then when the morning sun would rise, I would wake up, wash my face and smile for the world like my life depended on it. And I managed to fool everyone. For a long time, I’ve been known as the happy-go-lucky girl.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I suffered from depression. Its not a snap-out-of-it kind of situation as most people seem to think.
My faith in Christ and daily prayer, these are the things that started me on the journey to being fine but it still is a journey. Some days are good. Some days are really really bad that I don’t want to leave the comfort of my bed.
Its a journey.
