Growing Pains

An Alien To The Status Quo

My hidden talent?

I don’t think I have one.
Actually… scratch that.

All my talents are very much on display. Nothing hidden here, folks.

So instead, I’ll just list the talents I do know about.

I can sing.
It’s one of the things I love most. I’ve talked about it before in this post. I started singing when I was really young. I used to lock myself in the bedroom, turn the radio all the way up, and pretend I was a full-blown pop star—using whatever I could find as a microphone. Samantha Mumba was my jam.

I still love singing, even though I suffer from major stage fright. Like, knees-shaking, voice-disappearing, soul-leaving-body kind of stage fright. But put me alone in a room? I’ll sing like I’m headlining a world tour.

Reading and research.
My dad insists that my love for reading and research is a gift—a talent, even. I always just thought I was the weird girl who needed to know everything. Turns out, I inherited this obsession from my grandfather. Makes sense. Curiosity clearly runs in the family.

Writing (even though I don’t like to admit it).
I don’t really consider myself a writer. I’m just a girl who loves to read. And somehow, out of that compulsion to read, the idea was born that maybe—just maybe—I could create something too.

That, and the fact that I hear voices in my head.
(Perfectly normal writer behaviour, I promise.)

That’s how this wonderful story came to be—I kept hearing Di’s voice in my head until I finally wrote her down.

Dancing.
I used to dance. No, seriously. I have moves.
I will not be showing you these moves… but trust me, I gat moves.

So yeah, these are the talents I do know about. Tomorrow, I’m back to fashion….

So yeah—those are the talents I know about. There might be more hiding somewhere, but for now, these are the ones I’m claiming

Sayonara, lovelies.
Mables 💛

  1. Talent is what pays in this world…. Careers, in my opinion is just a way to introduce you to opportunities and give you choices for self improvement. Talent is the real deal. Having fun is the thing. Go on girl! This is a great piece..
