Growing Pains

An Alien To The Status Quo

This is a hostage situation, Mable’s blog is being held hostage! Call 911….wait that doesn’t work in this here Uganda, call 999!
Seriously though, today, on this final day of blog week, I have the privilege of hosting one of the brightest minds I have the pleasure of knowing, a person who also happens to be one of my closest friends.
Nga I begged and cried and threw tantrums (OK this is a bit of an exaggeration) for him to put  something to paper and finally, finally he did…and its a promise, a contract of sorts, for him to write more often. I will hold him to this promise.
Ladies and gentlemen of the blogosphere, I give you the incomparable mind of the awesomely awesome ROLAND ARUHO

WRITE SOMETHING

Carefully deleting everything that I type, I am my own worst critic. My thoughts jump out of my eyes and hit this invisible shredder before me and the screen. I love to read, continuously amazed at the worlds and dimensions created by talented writers around the world. But I long to create my own worlds, a giant multi-dimensional rabbit hole where you question reality and have to pinch yourself to come back to earth. Problem is, it takes time to reach a certain level of mastery. I’ve been told it takes about 10,000 hours for one to be able to master whatever art, skill or craft that one choses. I have barely spent minutes in this typing game but I constantly grade myself against my own inspirers. This perfectionist bug that has been corrupting my zeal to write needs to be wiped out. But how? I guess I have to write something every day for the next, say, 500 days (another figure I’ve been given. These are some huge figures if you ask me, but that’s the cost).
So, here’s to writing something for the next 500 days, whether I like it or not, whether it makes sense to you, or me for that matter, I shall write. I shall exercise this literary muscle until I can’t recognize my own work, until I blow my own mind. As my reader, you shall unwillingly have to stomach my errors, confused plot and all, till we reach that promised land of good writing.
Thank you!
