My study of rocks has led me to some pretty interesting places in Uganda.
I have been to the hills of Isingiro district where my skin bore the brunt of a simultaneously cold and hot weather. It was not pretty. My skin started to peel and don’t even get me started on my lips!
I have been to that place that civilised people (I use this very loosely) call the least developed, the backward part of the country, the Karamoja region. I loved it for all the four days I was there. it has it’s own unique charm. Karamoja is extra special because I had my first marriage proposal there and you know, you never forget your first….
This one guy we spied herding his cattle, offered the men in the group I was with, 100 head of cattle if they would give me up….*sigh* I felt so special
I have stared at the beautiful sedimentary rock of Ntoroko district. The weird people in my family would say I was listening to rock music….(looking at you Dad)
I have watched the sun rise and pondered on the beauty and meaning of life.
And of course, our Kampala, it all it’s glory!
But my best trip yet is the safari I fluked. I will not bore you with the details of how I fluked said safari, it involved Tom Cruise-esq stunts in mission impossible and since y’all are familiar with the movie, it doesn’t need repetition.
We took a trip to the south western area of Uganda. Had a game drive and a boat cruise in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth national park where we took selfies with the lions, watched the antelopes be graceful, saw the real pumba, fed the baboons and the monkeys, watched elephants be majestic and disturbed the peace of the hippopotami during the boat cruise. (I almost typed hippopotamuses). And watched birds fly..
From Queen Elizabeth, we went on to Lake Mburo national park, home of the zebra, the giraffe, the topi, the impala and my personal favorite, the monkeys with blue balls that kept flashing us said blue balls.
My highlight in Lake Mburo was not just the glamorous camping that we enjoyed at Kimbla-Mantana tented camp. The service there is just impeccable by the way, rather the fact that we enjoyed our supper under the twinkling night sky…and had ghost stories around the campfire….. Well not ghost stories but we did tell stories.
That was my best trip yet… I believe that the best is yet to come, there’s still a lot of exploring to do.
This is very lovely and articulate… I will give you anything to proof read… Before publishing… And the pic. Almost forgot that one. Thanks for the memories… About the QNP. Well you need to do some explaining why I was left behind. Ha ha ha… Kudos more…
Thanks!!! Lol next time I shall plan one just for you to compensate….how’s about that?
It’s very trouble-free to find out any topic on web as compared to books, as I found this paragraph at this site.
Thanks Amy
