Growing Pains

An Alien To The Status Quo

1 Samuel  1:12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. 1:13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
7. Meditation is oral:

To meditate is to muse, i.e to ponder and speak; but this does not necessarily have to be audible.
We have our moments of silence. Many of us have loud thoughts, full volume in our minds, yet mute to the outside world. We even have the ability to pray with our mouths closed.
The spirit, however, operates with different parameters.

In 1 Sam. 1, we are told of one of the deepest prayers ever made. This too is an example of meditation.
Hannah was taunted year in and out because she was barren. I bet she thought a lot about having children. She pondered.
She would get so distressed that she would cry and lose her appetite. The best time to meditate is when distressed.
So she prayed very deeply. So deeply that she poured her soul out. She prayed in her spirit. Yet we see she was still mouthing the words. It was not just a prayer in her thoughts with her mouth closed; for there is a big difference.
Hannah meditated.
Meditation is a spirit/heart matter. It involves speaking, but it does not have to be in a loud voice. The deepest prayers are not the loudest, neither are the deepest meditations. Speaking in your heart/spirit engages your mouth. Whether your meditation is shallow or deep, it will engage your mouth. Hannah bypassed her vocal chords but not her lips. Out of the abundance of her heart her mouth spoke.

You do not meditate with your mouth closed. You are to declare and decree. You may do so out loud or you may be hush about it; but you cannot decree or declare with your mouth closed. With your mouth closed all those are merely good thoughts. It is when those thoughts are processed through the tongue that they become prayers, prophecies, supplications, decrees, meditations, testimonies, songs, etc. Even tongues of the Spirit cause you to open your mouth.
Meditation does not have to be vocal, but nonetheless it is oral.
Think life! Speak life!
Meditate!
Open your mouth and decree!
